JOHNNY AND THE YOOAHOOS

A lot has happened since the four boys from Johnny and the Yooahoos first took to the

stages of southern Germany in 2018. Since then, the combo has been welcomed to festivals in France, Ireland, Holland, Austria and Switzerland. As winners of the 2024 IBMA International Band Performance Grant, they are traveling to the United States for a five-week summer tour to perform at renowned venues such as the Grand Ole Opry.

As for their music, the Yooahoos, still performing purely acoustically with banjo, mandolin,

guitar, double bass, and three-part vocals, have remained true to themselves. They continue to

celebrate American folk music in their own way by blending traditional bluegrass and

contemporary folk in an authentic, down-to-earth manner. They find themselves somewhere

between urban haze and rural idyll, blending many tones and an essential rawness, with a

sense of nostalgia for the past and a focus on the future and the present moment.
